青山学院大学英文学会では、イギリス学士院フェロー（FBA）で、キリスト教プロテスタントの歴史全般、特に近世のイングランドとスコットランドの宗教をご専門とされるアレック・ライリー教授によるオンライン講演会を開催いたします。多くのみなさまのご参加を心よりお待ちしています。

講師プロフィール：
Alec Ryrie, FBA, is a historian of Protestant Christianity in general and of religion in early modern England and Scotland in particular. He has written extensively on the English Reformation and the history and impact of Protestantism in England and Scotland and across the globe.
He has spoken on the cultural, social, political and emotional history of religion and on other subjects, including faith and doubt; martyrdom, violence and religious warfare; magic and deception; moderation and radicalism; childhood religious experience; and liturgy and prayer, formal and informal. Professor Ryrie is also a reader (lay minister) in the Church of England.
His well-received and most recent book is entitled Unbelievers: An Emotional History of Doubt. His popular online lectures on various religious topics have garnered tens of thousands of views. Professor Ryrie’s recent work examines the history of the expansion of Protestantism into Asia.
アレック・ライリー教授はイギリス学士院フェロー（FBA）で、キリスト教プロテスタントの歴史全般、特に近世のイングランドとスコットランドの宗教を専門とする。イギリス宗教改革やイングランド、スコットランド、世界各国へのプロテスタニズムの影響に関する著書が多数ある。宗教の文化的、社会的、政治的、心理的な歴史やその他の課題について論じてきた。その中には信仰や疑い、殉教、暴力と宗教戦争、 魔法と偽り、中庸と急進主義、 子供時代の宗教体験、公的、非公式な礼拝と祈りなどが含まれる。ライリー教授は英国国教会の祈禱者（lay minister）でもある。
近著Unbelievers：An Emotional History of Doubtは高い評価を得ている。さまざまな宗教的トピックスを取り上げるオンライン講義は人気があり多くの視聴者がいる。近年、ライリー教授はプロテスタントのアジアや日本への展開の歴史について考察を行っている。
